The Diana Dyason Library
The HPS program's Dyason Library is named in honour of an early and longstanding member of the then Department of HPS, Diana ('Ding') Dyason. One of the University's earliest appointments in the then new field of HPS, shortly after World War II, she was Head of Department of HPS from 1958 to 1974 and retired in 1984. Her special field of expertise was the history of medicine and public health.
All PhD and Masters candidates have general access to the HPS program's Library as the key to the postgraduate study rooms opens the back door to the library. Students enrolled in Honours or in a Postgraduate Diploma may use the library during normal office hours.
The library is governed by a short set of simple rules, designed to maintain the facility for the benefit of others. Students are requested to tidy up material after each study session, including the return of books to the shelves, and to observe the no bags, no food and no drink rules. The library is a reference library only: materials may not be borrowed.
