Master of Arts (Science, Communication and Society)
Build on existing qualifications to strengthen your existing career or change direction.
The Master of Arts (Science, Communication & Society) is a coursework degree that provides students with theoretical and practical skills in science communication and an advanced understanding of the social, ethical, political and human dimensions of public and community responses to science and technology. It is designed specifically for recent graduates and professionals who seek employment, or are employed, in areas of media, law, business or the public sector where communication of scientific or technical knowledge is an essential component of their work. With the assistance of the course coordinator students are able to tailor the course to suit their needs. On completion, graduates should be qualified to work as science communicators in diverse areas of employment.
Our aim is to offer a multi-disciplinary course that emphasises the context of science communication equally with its practice.
The course draws on the sociology and philosophy of science and technology from one of the world's pioneering HPS departments, and combines that with subjects in ethics, journalism, media, communications, professional writing, editing, and digital communications drawn from across Australia's leading Arts Faculty.
